this course raises the participant’s awareness around two key aspects of creating art – the processes of making and thinking, and how the two are interrelated

simple skills for visual art research and writing
research skills … how to research art and artists,
writing skills … gain an understanding of written texts related to the visual arts
looking skills … become aware of the content of an artwork and how to begin reading it
journaling skills … how to record the way you associate with an artwork

ongoing art classes (post-foundation drawing course)
expand your learning around the elements of art making through drawing, monotype printing and short talks on visual art appreciation

lecturing experience
2008 – 2012 … independent contract lecturer in the UNISA Visual Arts department (Pretoria/Tshwane)
my work here included:
• I assessed the art research and conceptualisation assignments at Senior Level
• formed part of the lecturing team for the senior students' workshops and appointment days
• assisted in curating student exhibitions
• functioned as an internal lecturer on the year-end examining panel for the students at Senior Level
